SIMON HARVEY

Director

Simon is a director, writer and producer based in Truro, Cornwall. He is the Artistic Director of o-region and Associate Artist at Hall for Cornwall and had a long Association with Cornwall’s Kneehigh Theatre.

He has experience of working at small and midscale and has toured extensively across the UK and Internationally (Ireland, USA and Australia).

As Artistic Director of o-region a theatre and film production company, he  has produced and directed the original shows Laughing Gas (Darke / Grose) (05/06) and One Darke Night (2011 / 12) and The Dead Monkey by Nick Darke (2013) and Stay Brave Brian Gravy  (2014) by Carl Grose, FUP (which he also wrote) (A Co-production with Kneehigh)(2016 / 2018) and HIRETH by Edward Rowe (2018) (In collaboration with Palores Productions) and MARTHUSOW HA MYSTERIS (2021) in association with HFC / Kresen Kernow

Simon is currently developing a new show WHITE HORSE  an adaptation of the novel The White Horse of Zennor and other Stories by Michael Morpurgo.

Work in film includes producing the feature length films The Midnight Drives (07) by writer / director Mark Jenkin, Weekend Retreat (2011) and Brown Willy (2016) by writer / director Brett HarveySimon has recently produced LONG WAY BACK a new feature film by Brett Harvey.  The film is due for festival and general release in 2022

For Kneehigh, Simon’s work as Director includes The Illustrated Girl (Asylum 2019) (for which he was co-writer)  FUP (which he also adapted and wrote) (UK Tour / Asylum 2018 / 2016) and the Kneehigh Walk With Me Story App.

As Associate Director for Kneehigh his work includes Brief Encounter  (in Association with David Pugh Ltd) (UK  / American / Australian Tour / West End Run 2018) Tristan and Yseult (UK / Ireland Tour 2017), 946 (US / UK tour 2017/ Asylum Season 2016) Steptoe and Son (National Tour 2012) Midnight’s Pumpkin / The Wild Bride (Asylum season 2011), The Red Shoes (National / International tour), Hansel and Gretel (UK tour / Christmas run at the QEH Hall), Rapunzel (UK Tour / Off Braodway transfer)  and Cymbeline (UK tour)

As Associate Artist of Hall for Cornwall, Simon directed the original Christmas shows Dick Whittington and his Mousehole Cat (2015), Jack and the Beanstalk (2016) and Sleeping Beauty (2017) (both of which he co-wrote).  Simon will direct the CINDERELLA based on an original script which he has co-written in Christmas 2021.
